CBSE’s revised bylaws say any hidden costs in school’s fee structure will now lead to stringent punishment. Teams will visit and assess schools’ quality too.
New Delhi: Amid numerous complaints that private schools charge exorbitant fees and additional expenses, the government is trying to make their functioning more transparent.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been tasked with making sure that private schools charge what they declare — that there are no hidden costs in their fee structure, and they do not ask parents to buy uniforms, books and other things from the school.
All this is now part of CBSE’s revised bylaws, and if schools don’t adhere to these rules, they can be disaffiliated.
“Regarding fee, the bylaws clearly state that full fee should be disclosed and there should be no hidden costs,” a senior CBSE official said.
“The bylaws clearly state that fee is to be charged as per the regulation of the appropriate government and fee revision shall be subject to laws.”
There are 20,783 schools affiliated to CBSE in India and other countries, teaching over 1.9 crore students.

Inspection of schools
The board will also focus on mapping learning outcomes in schools, which means assessing the quality of learning among students.
Teams from CBSE will visit schools for surveys, and also rank them on other parameters. If any school is found lagging on any of the parameters set by the board, it can be disaffiliated for a minimum of six months.
“Inspection of schools will now be outcome-based and more academic and quality-oriented, rather than focussing only on school infrastructure,” the CBSE official said.
“The inspection will focus on academic excellence and progress of students over time, innovations and quality of pedagogy, capacity of teachers and teacher training, inclusive practices in school, quality of co-scholastic activities, whether curricular load is as per norms, whether there is adequate focus on sports and games etc.

“This will not only help the board and the school to track students’ progress over time, but will also identify areas that would need further efforts.”

I am reading in 12th class and my school was charging rs. 7500 as practical fees and the registration amount is also very high the don’t give a single reciept for that payment please help me they charge very high for everyone in school when i was in 11th they charge RS. 2000 as practical fees . i am reading in SDM model school chander vihar, rajit vihar ,vikaspuri delhi I hope someone help
Can a school charge parking charges . If yes then what should be maximum charges they can charge
My daughter has just passed X and now the new school fee bill has additional fee of Rs.5000/- for counselling. And school is taking Rs.5000/- from every student promoted to XI standard. The school had no discussion with the parents before including the counselling charges in the fees. Why should the parents pay this fee.?..why should it be compulsory ?…Parents and students have the right to decide whether they need counselling or don’t.
And despite all guidelines about the sale of uniform and books….the schools keep on selling books and uniforms….I have never seen authorities taking action against such schools.
I simply fail to understand why these news articles are carried by the newspapers when they mean nothing more than printed words…..

Schools intentionally select the design and colors, so that the uniforms should be purchased from the school or a place specified by them. Branding for a school should be from learning outcome and student performance rather than differentiating through colorful uniforms. We parents should not choose a school based on flashy infrastructure, colorful uniforms, food served at schools and air conditioned class rooms. & school vans.
Is there a system of evaluating the solution ( publishers, technology solutions, and training etc..,) offered to the schools? Any product or solution should get the approval of respective board/approval committee before it is offered to schools. What happened to the smart classes?
Unaided private schools always find ways to beat the rules and we parents should stay supporting government in implementing the rules. For Example, referring to media reports, schools in Karnataka have started admission for next academic year without adhering to the revised fee policy. Parents are paying the fees and encouraging schools to flout norms.

Is it not poll campaign and public wooing phase now slowly and steadily gearing and picking up ?
Is it not the well calculated, fixed and tested time-aura for the ruling group to to feign waking up from its deep and long slumber ?
Are we not in for exposure of various scams individual and collective now to see contesting political parties to playing
ups and downs games ?
Shall we not be experiencing now the age old practice of switching sides politically- home comings, goings and feelings
of choking and suffocation ?
May be we shall experience a lot more- certain innovative, startling, ridiculous and new developments too on the scene in the run up
to the ensuing assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh,Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram and ultimtely the hot
contest in the 2019 Lok Sabha Polls ?
I am amused not startled at all at the recent CBSE move in wake of government’s bid to make the functioning of private schools
transparent only now !
Is CBSE talking of old bylaws or some newly invented- formulated bylaws pertaining to violation of affiliation bylaws by the private schools in form of exorbitant fee and sundry charges ? It appears as if earlier on CBSE had allowed liberty and exemption to private schools to go in for this broad day light plunder !
What a model of “Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas “and “Acche Din !”
Many more moves full of temptations, rhetorics, ploys, gimmicks and guiles like this in abundance in the offing !
Shall we like to be befooled time and again ?
