New Delhi: Former US president Barack Obama launched a scathing attack on the US president Donald Trump while rallying for the Democratic nominee for the US Senate, Abdul El-Sayed. He accused Trump’s administration of accepting favours, which has become a culture “at the top”.
“Never seen a president so intent on selling favors like this,” he said.
El-Sayed is fighting for “real” change and will end corruption, he said while addressing the crowd gathered at the Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan.
Trump, however, hit back a day after, calling Obama “incompetent”.
“Obama was a grossly incompetent President! He paid off Iran with $ billions and gave them a road to a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote in a social media post; he said this while holding a rally in Ohio and Michigan.

“Trump enriching himself”
Midterm elections are going on against a backdrop of heated political attacks.
Obama, while addressing the crowd, said that El-Sayed will work on getting the money out of political parties, back into people’s pockets.
It was Obama’s first public show in support of El-Sayed.
From the stage, the former US president also spoke about tariffs that have been revised every year since. Referring to Canada and Trump’s tariff on the country, Obama said, “These are the people who gave us Martin Short and maple syrup,” he said.
He also took a dig at Trump’s renovation of the White House. Trump “got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory.”
He claimed that Trump has been “enriching himself and his family”.
Trump, after attacking Obama, slammed him for supporting El-Sayed, whom he and Republican candidate Mike Rogers have always labelled as “jihadist”.
He calls El-Sayed a fake doctor who runs, Trump claimed, “the worst clinic in America”.
“Michigan doesn’t want an arrogant, open-borders, Fake Doctor, Jihadist, whose reputation will only get worse as more information is revealed,” he wrote in the post.
