New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission announced the result of the Additional Private Secretary Examination 2023, and not a single candidate got selected. No candidate was able to qualify for the minimum typing speed criteria set by the commission. The exam was held for 331 positions.

“No candidate was declared successful for the third stage because none achieved the prescribed minimum Hindi shorthand speed of 80 words per minute,” said the statement released by UPPSC.

No candidate achieved an error-free speed of 80 words in Hindi shorthand.

“Since no candidate qualified for the third stage, all 331 advertised vacancies of the APS (Additional Private Secretary) Examination 2023 have been requisitioned/cancelled by the Commission,” the statement added.

Consequently, the UPPSC has carried all 331 positions to the next recruitment process. The recruitment process for these positions had been initiated under the APS Examination 2023.

The second phase featured an exam in Hindi Shorthand and Hindi Typing. The maximum marks allotted for these components were 75 and 25, respectively. As per the regulations, it was mandatory for candidates to achieve an error-free speed of at least 80 words per minute in Hindi Shorthand. It was at this stage that the entire selection process came to a standstill.

When the results—which the candidates had been awaiting for three years—were finally declared Tuesday, it came as a severe shock.

Marks to be released soon

Students’ marks will be uploaded with relevant details on the UPPSC website soon. The result marks one of the more unusual happenings in the UPPSC recruitment process over the past few years.

Aspirants are questioning the commission now.

“This is just another way for the authorities to fail the students. How is it possible that not a single candidate cleared the exam? The structure of the exam should be changed, and they should make it easier. As of now, we are waiting for our marks to be released,” Nitin, who appeared for the exam, told ThePrint.
