New Delhi: Amul, India’s largest dairy cooperative also popular for its topicals, wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 76th birthday through a social media post. In line with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign, calling for citizens to light diyas on PM Modi’s birthday, Amul’s graphic reads “Ashirwad ka diya ne desh ko roshan kiya.”
The post, depicting the Amul girl along with a cheery PM Modi by her side, also alludes to the PM’s status as the longest serving head of state through clever wordplay. It reads, “Amul: Longest serving head of taste.”
Amul’s post comes amidst a flurry of greetings by prominent politicians and public figures, wishing PM Modi good health and happiness. This list includes cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambhir, advocate and former Rajya Sabha member Mahesh Jethmalani, and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
PM Modi also received greetings from Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, whose post on X read, “Happy birthday to PM Narendra Modi ji. Wishing you good health and a long life.”
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay also extended his best wishes to the Prime Minister.
“I extend my heartfelt birthday wishes to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Thiru. Narendra Modi avargal, who leads with dedication towards building a strong India. I wholeheartedly wish you a long life filled with good health,” he wrote on X.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta too urged citizens to share their blessings with the Prime Minister on his birthday.
“I appeal to every family to light ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ on September 17 between 6 pm and 7 pm and offer prayers for his good health, long life and continued strength in the service of Maa Bharati,” she said in a video shared on X.
This call comes along with the ‘Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan,’ a month-long campaign from September 17 to October 17 to be held across India, to mark Modi’s 25 years of service.
