New Delhi: Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent is streaming on both YouTube and Netflix. Solving the mystery, Ted Sarandos, CEO of Netflix, shared that the OTT platform was very excited about the show because it came with a massive built-in audience and a very popular host.

In an interview with The Indian Express on Thursday, when questioned about how, for the first time in the history of the streaming platform, the same content is available on both platforms, he said that YouTube is just a place for discoverability.

“YouTube is a place to discover things, no different than a film festival or film school or an open casting call,” he told The Indian Express, adding that the show has a built-in audience and a host, Samay Raina, who is very famous in the country.

“The show had all the elements that people, I think, wanted, and we were able to bring it, so we’re excited about it,” Sarandos said.

He also revealed that Dhurandhar became the most-watched non-English film on Netflix.

‘I just want to have fun’

Raina’s India’s Got Latent Season 1 ended abruptly in February last year over guest judge Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remark. A massive outrage erupted, and multiple FIRs were filed over the development. Later, Raina deleted all the episodes from his YouTube channel.

India’s Got Latent Season 2 was announced during his comeback solo show Still Alive in April, where he spoke about the phase when the controversy was going on and how it affected him mentally and physically. At the end of the show, he revealed that the second season would be coming.

“I will definitely bring the show back, brother, because I used to have so much fun doing it. Now, for as long as I am in this world, I just want to have fun,” he said.

On 20 June, the second season of India’s Got Latent started streaming on YouTube and Netflix. There are also bonus episodes that are members-only for his YouTube community.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
