New Delhi: Nearly two months after finding himself at the centre of the “Rs 370 biryani” controversy, comedian Pranit More has returned with a new show, Ghayal.
More announced his return to the stand-up stage via an Instagram post on 5 August.
“I can’t change what happened, but I can choose who I become because of it,” he captioned the announcement.
However, coinciding with More’s return, a video from his upcoming set has gone viral on social media. Thanking those who attended the show, More admitted he was unsure whether he would be welcome again after the controversy.
“I was confused about whether people would accept me on stage or not. I started stand-up not for money, but this makes me happy, and I want to make others happy,” he said.
The comedian added that he was nervous before stepping on stage and thanked fans for giving him “another chance.” He then recalled that his mother says everybody makes mistakes, but what really counts is the way a person changes afterwards. More shared that it was her words that gave him the power to stand up once again.
More was at the centre of a controversy in June after a crowd-work clip from one of his Gurugram shows went viral. During the interaction, an audience member implied that spending Rs 370 for a biryani on a date entitled him to physical intimacy with a woman. To which More laughed and described it as “Peak Gurgaon content,” triggering widespread criticism online.
The incident led to police action, a National Commission for Women summons and a public apology from the comedian, who acknowledged his mistake in judgment and said that he deserved the criticism.
Fans welcomed him back and praised his emotional honesty, while others accused him of attempting to recreate his comeback like comedian Samay Raina.
“This is the comeback we were all waiting for,” read one comment under the announcement.

“I still hate him; with the emotional comeback, he will create more nuisance,” said one user.
“Sad to see people still support these kinda stand-up comedians,” another remarked.
