Periyar never advocated for anyone to change to another religion. When Ambedkar asked him to change his religion, he replied that only inside Hinduism I can bring maximum change. But yes all of these incidents also show how the Dalits have been duped against their own well being.
Secondly, the temples which have been asked to donate are those under the TN Government administration and maintenance and are government property as they were restored or rebuilt by the TN Government. No private temples are asked to pay anything. It is the government asking its own properties to pay up in such a time of distress. Know your facts before you blab away.
