PM Modi wishing the Dalai Lama on his birthday is a welcome change. The Modi government’s Tibet policy has been inconsistent. Playing it down didn’t really help appease China. His Holiness and Tibetans living in India are not merely honoured guests but also a symbol of India’s diversity and large-heartedness.

Online harassment of young Muslim women, including journalist Fatima Khan from ThePrint, is a dangerous crime. It’s also instigation for worse. It can be no excuse that it was a rogue “auction” website that disappeared. National Commission for Women must get police to trace, prosecute and punish those behind it.

SC right to be shocked. Govt must send out fresh message on defunct Section 66A of IT Act

Supreme Court is right to be shocked that people are still being booked and tried under an atrocious IT law struck down six years back. Government’s response that police officers don’t realise the law doesn’t exist is lame. A fresh message that Section 66A is abolished should go out immediately.
