The return of CM Arvind Kejriwal’s vehicle rationing odd-even scheme — which had no demonstrable impact earlier — shows that Delhi continues to lack clear policies to curb pollution. Ahead of elections, it just gives Kejriwal another chance to project himself as the leader of the poor who can discipline car-owning classes.

Kejriwal is clearly out of his depth when it comes to managing Delhi’s affairs. His party had a chance to make a difference Delhi residents’ lives which he thoroughly messed up. Apart from wee bit improvements here and there, overall a poor show. Having used Anna’s movement as a launch pad to found his political ambitions most of his 5 years in power went in vain having tried to equate himself with Modi.
Not practical, apart from questions about how much it will cut air pollution. If someone can get by without a car three days a week, he can manage on the other three as well. Son and daughter in law in Singapore do not have a car – very few people do – because they have so many good options and alternatives.
