CBSE’s move to make 9th graders study a native Indian language from 1 July isn’t just an additional burden. It jeopardises the careers of students who had opted for foreign languages. Prioritising Indian languages is good, but the state can’t impose it. And definitely not at the cost of employability.

It is wonderful that Pakistan has brought home the bacon. Visualise the media coverage if the document bore the name New Delhi in place of Islamabad. 3. Our diplomacy is not in a sweet spot.
