China’s intransigence on listing JeM chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN is beyond baffling. Beijing obviously doesn’t realise, or doesn’t care about, the damage this is doing to its image in India. China will have only itself to blame if this also hurts the post-Doklam rapprochement.
MFN revocation a good step but stronger diplomatic action needed
Revoking MFN status to Pakistan is a drop in the ocean for a country that is living off IMF handouts and Chinese largesse. But it is a good warning shot. While diplomatic measures are important, they should be aimed at doing things that actually hurt Islamabad and mount international pressure.
