Kathmandu, May 12 ( PTI) Nepal’s law minister on Tuesday presented the agreement between Nepal and India on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters in the House of Representatives.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sovita Gautam presented the agreement signed between Nepal and India on February 17, 2026, in Kathmandu.  The agreement aimed to make the investigations effective and also simplify the investigation of criminal offences, criminal accusations, and other cases.

The implementation of the agreement allows the prosecution of criminals and the return of money earned through criminal activities.

The implementation of this agreement will help minimise financial crimes, according to experts.  This will also help in controlling money laundering and financial investment in terrorist activities. Besides, this agreement is key to removing Nepal from the FATF(Financial Action Task Force) grey list. PTI SBP RD RD RD
