New Delhi: The United States will release a limited number of passports featuring President Donald Trump’s photo rather than scenes from the country’s history such as the moon landing and American symbols like the Statue of Liberty.
The passports will be released as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence in July.
The White House announced Wednesday that a limited number of passports featuring portraits of the President will be available for “any American citizen” who applies after the rollout kicks off, and will continue for as long as there is availability.
Aimed to showcase the ‘spectacular celebrations for America’s 250th birthday,” according to a White House spokesperson quoted by the BBC, the move is to show how “President Trump continues to proudly lead a renewal of national pride and patriotism during our historic semiquincentennial celebration”.
US president’s approval ratings have sharply dropped from 38 percent to 30 percent since the beginning of the West Asia war, according to a new AP-NORC poll, with even Republicans showing little faith in his leadership.

Current US passports depict scenes from the country’s history, such as the moon landing, along with American symbols like the Statue of Liberty.
In the limited-edition passports, these have been replaced with an image of Trump, set against the text of the Declaration of Independence and the American flag. One of the interior pages also features the president’s signature in gold beneath the design.
A State Department spokesperson told The Washington Post the new passports will retain existing security features while incorporating “customized artwork and enhanced imagery” tied to the anniversary.

Trump’s rebranding spree
The move is the latest in a series of efforts by the Trump administration to attach Trump’s name to federal programmes and symbols.
In October last year, it was proposed that a $1 coin bearing Trump’s image and commemorative inscriptions marking the 250th anniversary should be done. Draft designs for the coin show his profile alongside phrases such as “Liberty” and “In God We Trust,” as well as a second image referencing a campaign rally incident in 2024.
The US president’s image has also appeared on selected national park passes for 2026, which traditionally feature landscapes. Moreover, several institutions have been renamed or rebranded during his second term, including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the U.S. Institute of Peace, both of which now include his name.
The former is now rebranded as the Trump-Kennedy Center following a December 2025 board vote and the latter is called The Donald Trump Institute of Peace.
