New Delhi: President Joe Biden has announced his intent to nominate John Bradford Wiegmann to be general counsel of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Curtis Raymond Ried to be U.S. Representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, with the rank of ambassador, and John Bradford Wiegmann to be general counsel of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, a White House press release stated.
Wiegmann is a deputy assistant attorney general for national security at the Department of Justice, where he “spearheads the National Security Division’s efforts to develop and implement policies relating to intelligence, counterterrorism, counterespionage, nation-state threats, and other national security matters, in addition to providing legal assistance and advice on matters of national security law and legislation,” Biden said in a statement.
Ried is a career member of the Foreign Service, and currently serves as “Deputy Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff and Executive Secretary of the White House National Security Council (NSC),” Biden said.
Ried has held numerous other positions in the NSC, including senior director for multilateral affairs and director for United Nations affairs. Wiegmann and Ried are both graduates of Duke University and Harvard Law School. Wiegmann also has experience in private practice at the law firm of Shea & Gardner.
