New Delhi: Tributes poured in for noted playwright and actor Girish Karnad who passed away on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too remembered him, calling the late actor versatile “across all mediums”.
Girish Karnad will be remembered for his versatile acting across all mediums. He also spoke passionately on causes dear to him. His works will continue being popular in the years to come. Saddened by his demise. May his soul rest in peace.

Young gun Jignesh Mevani also sent out a tweet remembering Karnad. He remembered the “me too urban naxal’’ placard that Karnad had put around his neck at an event organised to mark the first death anniversary of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru.

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah greeted his Kashmiri Pandit brothers on Zyeth Ashtami. Is he starting his election campaign for the state assembly polls scheduled to be held later this year?

Seems he is not the only one prepping their election pitch. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the Kathua rape and murder verdict and said people should stop playing politics over the heinous crime.
Welcome the judgement. High time we stop playing politics over a heinous crime where an 8 year old child was drugged, raped repeatedly & then bludgeoned to death. Hope loopholes in our judicial system are not exploited & culprits get exemplary punishment https://t.co/jBuRUdGa5h

US President Donald Trump’s relationship with The New York Times hit a new low with him calling the newspaper corrupt and putting out fake news.
The Failing @nytimes story on Mexico and Illegal Immigration through our Southern Border has now been proven shockingly false and untrue, bad reporting, and the paper is embarrassed by it. The only problem is that they knew it was Fake News before it went out. Corrupt Media!

Shashi Tharoor compares Congress’ state to the English cricket team in 2015, and how the former can learn from the latter. Rahul Gandhi, are you watching the world cup and taking lessons?
For cricket fans and Indian politics buffs: six lessons that @INCIndia can learn from the way England's cricket team rebuilt itself from a disastrous 2015 World Cup campaign to become favourites in 2019: https://t.co/2TBj18Butz

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, put out a tweet of an Italian plaque. Interestingly, he later gave a sermon on civility and hateful language in response to Rahul Gandhi’s comments in Wayanad. Pot calling the kettle black, sir?
Original Tweet
This is what they call a 'Conference Room' in Italian.
Interestingly, it also has its back against the wall! pic.twitter.com/30L0TpWCdV

Tweet on Gandhi
Electoral politics has its ups & downs. One shouldn't throw civility to the winds & use hateful language of the kind used in Wayanad.
All the more reprehensible when such language is used against a democratically elected head of the country's govt.

Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn took a break from politics to cheer the English women’s football team in their upcoming match against Scotland in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup. Nobody comes between football and the English, not even politics.
Good luck to the @Lionesses and @ScotlandNT who have just kicked off in their first @FIFAWWC game. I hope both get through to the knock out stages and go on to have a great tournament. #Lionesses #SWNT #ENGSCO

Congress spokesperson Sanjay Jha called out TV news’ silence on journalist Prashant Kanojia’s arrest. Now what made you think “celebrity” anchors would defend their own, Mr Jha?
Can someone please help me here???? How many celebrity TV anchors are tweeting about this? #ReleasePrashantKanojia . Who??
If they can’t stand up for one of their own, do you think you stand a chance? #RIPIndianMedia

BJP’s information in-charge Amit Malviya needs a lesson in attribution. No one knows the origins of this quote.
“They jumped into a water body and begged for their lives. But the attackers shot them from behind. A bullet pierced Pradip’s head and came out of his left eye. Sukanta died on the spot, too.”
State of Bengal where TMC gundas are on rampage and not a word from Mamata Banerjee.

And lastly, Major General Asif Ghafoor DG of Pakistan’s Inter Services PR got into an awful tangle with journalist Shiva Aroor after he retweeted the latter’s tweet and then made matters worse by trying to cover it up in the most confused language.
Interesting. pic.twitter.com/lb8Dl8SzcQ
