New Delhi: US Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined a string of senior Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi to condemn the deplorable condition of immigration detention centres. Here she calls out right wing-defenders in her own inimitable way.

We don’t give them an inch, a second, a sliver of sunlight nor the time of day. And neither should you.

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) June 23, 2019

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah expressed perfectly the reaction of Formula One fans to the French Grand Prix, Sunday, which saw the winner Lewis Hamilton win by 18 seconds after leading from start to finish.

Congress general secretary (UP east) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is giving Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare, a keen challenge when it comes to flagging women-centric issues on Twitter. Your turn, minister.

In translation: Lalita’s family should get all the help for treatment. It is embarrassing for our society to stop the treatment of someone due to money and for them to ask for euthanasia. The Deputy Government is appealed to help the unhappy family with immediate help.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the women’s hockey team on their FIH series win Sunday, but someone forgot to alert him to another historic win by the Indian women’s rugby team. However, Congress leader Milind Deora was quick to send out his message of congratulations to them.

Public interest lawyer and Swaraj India’s Prashant Bhushan is rightly incensed by the mob violence incident in Jharkhand where the victim succumbed to his wounds. Definitely not the country we want, sir.

AIPWA secretary and CPI(M) politbureau  member Kavita Krishnan didn’t expect to hear from the Prime Minister on the lynching of the man in Jharkhand, but she was surprised by the Opposition’s silence — in particular Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati and Tejashwi Yadav. Odd that the “mahagathbandhan” seem to be on the same page on such a terrible crime.

Speaking of mahagathbandhan, BSP supremo Mayawati announced her party’s split from the Samajwadi Party. So much for a historic alliance which lasted a mere five months.

In translation: But after the Lok Sabha election, the SP’s behavior forces the BSP to think that by doing so will it be possible to beat the BJP further? Which is not possible. Therefore, in the interest of the party and movements, the BSP will now fight all the small and big elections going forward alone on its own.

What was good about Congress national spokesperson Sanjay Jha’s presence at celebrations of #Pride2019 in Toronto, was that he was there. What was bad is that he was dressed all in black. Somebody needs to explain the concept of the pride march to Mr. Jha

From one spokesperson to another… While one is celebrating #pride, the other is preoccupied with his image. BJP spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain shared a “smiley” picture of himself on Twitter. Looking good, sir.

The self proclaimed “common man of Madhya Pradesh” and former chief minister of the state, Shivraj Singh Chouhan posed an extremely important question for the present CM, Kamal Nath: Where did he acquire a third hand in a recent photograph? Wasn’t there any other issue you could lay your hands on to attack the CM, sir?

  1. What does The Print think the concept of Pride is all about – wearing colourful fancy dress? Why is wearing black against the concept of Pride, pray? Pride is about refusing to be shamed for one’s sexual orientation and identity, it’s about taking pride in being oneself. The rainbow colours are to show respect for diversity and oppose heteronormativity. Whether you wear black or not while marching in Pride is no issue at all.
