Umair Abubakkar is a devout follower of these words as it sparked the curiosity of building customer-focused digital solutions. His e-commerce platform ‘Gsm Player’, is nothing short of a revolutionary digital solution that bridges the gap between business owners/sellers and consumers. Originally, Gsm Player catered to the repair industry that needed spare parts to fix smartphones and other electronic gadgets, but slowly, it evolved into a full-fledged marketplace to purchase almost everything pertaining to the technology space a one single platform. 

Abubakkar single-handedly identified a persistent problem in the industry and envisioned a digital solution that is now used by thousands of business owners and resellers across continents. As a child, he loved to fiddle with technology and after getting hold of his first personal laptop, his interest in technology and the e-commerce domain multiplied significantly. He began creating websites as a hobby and slowly explored the realm of e-commerce solutions like Amazon that inspired him to build something like that for resellers and business owners in specific industries. 

Abubakkar recently integrated a dedicated module to provide digital stores to business owners who cannot afford dedicated digital selling solutions like personalised e-commerce websites. His intention is to amass every smartphone seller in the country to build a digital store on Gsm Player, which will give them exposure to an enormous consumer base eager to purchase the latest and greatest that the industry has to offer. 

‘Digitisation is key to reigniting the struggling economy’

The sellers can now patiently watch their inventory sell like hotcakes, without having to worry about the raging pandemic and Covid-imposed lockdowns that impede the physical visit to their stores. Abubakkar strongly believes that digitisation is the key to reigniting the struggling economy and it is possible by connecting sellers to relevant consumers. 

“E-commerce solutions paved the way for many struggling businesses to come online and offer their products. Gsm Player does the same but for individuals related to the tech industry. We originally restricted the platform to repair parts but it grew to offer tech products, accessories, and even premium tech products such as flagship smartphones. Gsm Player continues to focus on improving platform accessibility and is working on a dedicated app for new customers,” he said.
