Indians are also seen as successful and are being portrayed by the right-wing as “taking our jobs”. Indian festivals tend to be noisy and yes, celebrated in public. Indians can be insensitive to the Western preference for quiet. Incidents like these are the rare exceptions and earlier they would have been reported to the police. Now these are being posted to social media and anti-immigrant sentiment is being whipped up.
Having lived in the West, I know how limited is the celebration of our festivals due to the restrictions on public displays.

As always this lady has proven time and time again she suffers from the imposter syndrome. Now there are people who suffer from the opposite i.e. vishwaguru syndrome but the examples you gave for that like celebrating ganpati or having “pure veg” restaurants is so stupid.
In Canada, the khalistanis lobbied hard to get your community to mass immigrate to Canada on fake bogus documents which were created by Punjabi politicians. We are not responsible for what Khalistanis do.
Secondly, you were absolutely correct to point out bad behavior but if that is your justification of not being the model minority anymore than I think you are really stupid. Smart people look at data not your stupid anecdotes of one off behavior. You can’t stop social media on pouncing on these incidents because let’s be honest Twitter is incentivized to say outrageous things. Also if we should start targeting communities because some of their members do wrong things then the gloves are off for the far right community in India which do the same to Muslims instead of targeting Islamists.

Really? That’s the yardstick of assimilation? As soon as you land up in a foreign country a vegetarian who can now get veg options more easily should start eating meat.
