ISRO will announce Friday if communication with Chandrayaan-3 mission's Vikram lander & Pragyan rover — currently in sleep mode — has been established & if they'll function again.
The lander performs a hop experiment on lunar surface, testing the tech of lifting off & landing on the moon — crucial for future missions to collect & return lunar samples to Earth.
Once lunar day lasting 14 Earth days comes to end, both lander & rover to face low temperatures likely to jam systems. Both to be put to 'sleep' so they can continue experiments.
ISRO shares graph showing temperature variations of lunar surface in 1st such profile of lunar south pole that will help scientists understand thermal behaviour of Moon's surface.
Launched on 14 July, Chandrayaan-3 mission aims to put the Vikram lander softly at the lunar south pole. The process will start at approximately 5.45 pm IST Wednesday.
