The issue of inequality has assumed the blazing limelight at a time when inequality in India is said to be higher than it was in the British Raj. It's a ripe situation for half-truths and incendiary statements.
Speaking at launch of economist Surjit Bhalla’s book, S Jaishankar also highlights Gen Z’s engagement with ‘reel culture’, which has 'promoted awareness, created interest in many subjects'.
Germany’s erstwhile Christian Democratic Union govt, led by Angela Merkel, prevented sale of small arms to police forces in states they perceived had ‘bad human rights record’.
A theme has not yet emerged for BJP & people see lack of a contest, which makes it unexciting. For all these reasons, 2024 is turning out to be an unexpectedly theme-less election.
This author cowardly wrote this article to promote Bahamins are not bad (prawn Savarkar). The core intention of this article is to stop the raising power of Dr. Ambetkar ideology today in India. Today countless youngsters throughout India especially from OBC section agitating the caste system so, glorifying Sarkar for his taught about caste system and Pulling down Dr. Ambetkarism. This is the core matter in the article.
The ideology of Ambedkar is not really rising. He was harshly critical of Hinduism as well as Islam. There is only an appeasement of the latter, on account of which there is a resurgence of the former.
Had it been left to Ambedkar, he would not have allowed either to foster in the first place, restricting them to their homes.
Furthermore, this article is based on evidence, and not fairytales in the guise of history, such as Subhas Chandra Bose perishing in a fictional plane crash.
Being born and brought up in Mumbai and maharashtra and being a maharashtrian I have always heard good things about savarkar in childhood . In marathi schools his poems essay articles are a part of the syllabus. His was a great poet and writer and has immense contribution in poetry and literature. He was a staunch nationalist and thought ahead of his age . The Delhi media and it’s discourse somehow always demonises him . That’s the reason many have a sense of disrepute for him .many stories about him were distorted and truth was suppressed. He suffered kaala pani for so many years and even after that was in incarceration in ratnagiri. Nehru disliked him and wanted to convert the Andaman prison into hospital when there were demands of it to be made into a memorial. Savarkar was sent to kaala pani and later jail in ratnagiri so many years of captivity because he was a fierce revolutionary and staunch nationalist and the British were aware of it. Nehru had jail sentences which were as good as house arrest and was often let go by the British govt .
If the glorification of Savarkar is to be believed, he would not have written “Hindutva”. He would have become a social reformer focusing for a casteless society and against Untouchability etc… He would have adopted E.V. R model if not exactly, with some modifications if this article is to be believed.
If he Savarkar was outrightly denounced the caste system then why
1. He gave a religion based conceptualization for chaturvarna society as ‘HINDUTVA’?
2. Why he did not join hands with Dr. Ambedkar, Sant Gadge Maharaj to strengthen their efforts to eradicate the caste system?
Obviously, whatever views he had expressed on caste system were not commensurate with ‘action program’ required to eradicate it. So, at the most one can say that, that was his ‘wishful thinking’ used by his followers for his glorification.
Thank you for translating Savarkar’s writings to English and shedding new light on his ideology and thought process. I, myself, am a rationalist but not a communist. Can the author then please explain why the Sangh Parivar hails him as a hero but do not respect his ideas? Why do they have more respect for abstract beliefs than for real human beings? I think it would be very useful to carry out an interview with the Sangh Parivar heads using Savarkar’s writings as a counterpoint in an extensive, prolonged, detailed, televised debate before the general elections so that people of India do understand what Savarkar & Gandhi taught and how their followers are besmirching their teachings.
The author is too quick to draw conclusions based on some traits. Perhaps the author is not aware that all brahmins in India are not vegetarians. Some communities eat seafood which they call jalpushpa. Chitpavans., GSBs, bengali and other brahmins from south East States do eat. That does not make them any special. Grow up. ?
I was about to make the same comment. I think the author himself is a Brahmin but probably from North India. South Indian coastal region Brahmins in Maharashtra, Konkan, Karnataka & Kerala do not have restrictions against seafood or travel across sea [sea travel is restricted only for peethadhipathis]. But, these restrictions exist for Brahmins from UP & Bihar region.
I have seen many such statements even among NRI Brahmins.
Just goes to show how ignorant they are about the religious practices of their own caste in their own country.
These are not some traits, btw first correction chitpavans do not eat non veg food( even sea food), and is that the only thing you saw in the article. You may go ahead and see his marathi writings and confirm all these facts. It was after his torture and punishment his views started becoming radical. Most people say it is glorification of brahmins and all are bloody racists hiding their radical and racists thoughts under the carpet of how their ancestors were tortured. I conversely say that it was because he is brahmin that he is always criticized. I am no fan of hindutva but your childish and utopian thought process that a person can either be good or bad is pathetic. Liberals like me wont support his ideology but we dont hide the truth. Infact while talking about savarkar , people in maharashtra consider him as two identities (before 1930s and after 1930s).PS: Racist slurs like you are welcome to draw conclusions about my caste.
That’s the Marathi man I knew(proud, self-sufficient, knowledgeable, insight to right and wrong , not over religious, respectful, hardwork believer ) Not like those in this era who have become opposite. .

Mr Sampath please go through this video .there is a series of videos on Savarkar and godse on the same channel .please go through them .my suggestion is to read history books properly.
A slightly foolish and perhaps even cowardly gentleman. So just like most of us. Neither a saint and certainly not a man to be demonised. An ordinary man, who is being raised to a pedestal by cynical opportunists.
Very well written. A very good article to know Veer Savarkars thought’s and clear doughts.
