A deadlock in the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly has been on since the result of the state elections were announced on 24 October 2019. While BJP emerged the single largest party with 105 seats, it still fell short of the majority mark. The Shiv Sena won 56 seats and the NCP won 54.
