TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee wrote to Bhalla, questioning his authority to summon Bengal’s chief secretary & DGP after BJP chief JP Nadda’s convoy was attacked earlier this week.
The move is likely to further escalate the ongoing tussle between West Bengal govt and the BJP-led central government following the attack on the convoy of Nadda two days ago.
The home ministry had summoned West Bengal Chief Secretary and DGP asking them to present themselves on 14 December for an explanation on the law and order situation in the state.
All seven of them were booked under various sections of the IPC for rioting, obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions and other offences.

Let’s not forget what really happened here before jumping to conclusions. There was an attack on the president of the BJP and the state government refused to act on the culprits. After THAT the officers were summoned. Where is State responsibility for law and order here? Should th centre ignore the attack? Should th criminals not be punished? What do you think?
All one can say is, We are setting new benchmarks, walking down untrodden paths. As Jugalbandi explains, both Vajpayeeji and Pranabda discovered India in the Central Hall of Parliament, learnt to appreciate its wonderful diversity simply by listening to some of the strange languages that were spoken there. That must have induced in them a sense of humility, We cannot think up all the solutions to India’s problems at the Centre, imposes them by imperial edict.
Federalism shouldn’t mean overwhelming local POPULATION with violent and fundamentalist refugees .
“Danga DIDI” needs to be stopped from achieving her goal of a puritanical state where only her religion is practised and people from other religions become secondary citizens.
Typical one-eyed commentary. Do you know that IPS officers who behave like IPS are no longer holding any positions of responsibility in West Bengal
