Mahatma Gandhi is the victim of religious extremism. Had he got support from the self declared religious leaders, the partition could have been easily avoided. It is really unfortunate that they blame Him for the partition when they themselves were solely responsible.
Many people then and now, get the leadership status, idealistic status just by blaming him, which is ridiculous.
This nation cannot survive without his principles.
The article has correctly identified Gandhiji’s core values of truth, non-violence and communal harmony. As a Gandhian myself I distinguish between these core values and circumstantial ones like his opposition to foreign cloth, machinery, drinking tea etc..
In like manner the BJP needs to distinguish between Gandhiji’s specs and his VISION!
Mahtma Gandhi’s philosophy failed in his lifetime itself.Country got partitioned ,millions of people brutally massacred and became homeless. Non violence is good to talk but difficult to make it work.History of the world is witness of unprecedented brutal mass murders ,Burning and killings.Present day World is witnessing brutal killings and mass murders.Where is the voice of non-voilence? Mahatma Gandhi- the champion freedom struggle, sanitation, economic development, world politics, social reform, untouchability, communal harmony and equality, non voilence ,and what not. Infact he SINGLE HANDEDLY WON the independence for India.

Mahatma Gandhi is eternal. His contribution to India’s freedom movement is not contingent on the judgment of historians or efforts made by successive governments to enlarge or diminish his role. The world hasn’t changed for the better.
