Standing up to America is usually not a personal risk for a leader in India. Any suggestions of foreign pressure unites India behind who they see as leading them in that fight.
ALL A bunch of hypocrites…Congress had on many occasions themselves espoused the very same reforms as contained in the three Agri Bills, but for purely political expediency, they see the “farmers” protests as a surefire weapon they can use to pillory the govt, since they have no solutions of their own to offer.
Imagine how powerful is middlemen lobby with politicians. All experts wanted reforms which were passed. Farmers can have issues with some points in laws which can be discussed but complete repeal of laws should not be done. Reforms at this point are required to accelerate growth of farm sector.

Montek Singh Sir – please come out openly in support of the laws. We all need to rise above party politics and work in the national interest. Modiji’s plea in the RS was clear. He is happy to take the blows, but wants the laws implemented since they are for the farmer’s benefit and will unleash the entrepreuner in them.
The rulers in Punjab do not just represent the interests of the rich farmers , middlemen and traders, they themselves are all the three put to gather. Something overlooked by the expert committee.
If the marginal farmers’ land is on informal( by coercive methods) lease to the rich ones, who are exploiting it through free power, subsidized fertilizers and cheap migrant out of state labour, with assured procurement, the small farmer himself is free to sit on the agitation so long as he gets the bonus Bhatta, and comforts of life which are not available in the village. Once the legal actions start these very farmers will be the first disappear that is the risk they will not take against the bonus and goodies of life on the agitation site.
Small numbers with big nuisance value is not a solution for success in a democracy.
The REAL FARMERS are protesting for over two months now. That means the farmers who are working on their fields must be FAKE FARMERS by definition. All farming subsidies to REAL FARMERS must be stopped. Let them go to Pakistan and live happily ever after there. I support the REAL FAKE FARMERS of INDIA.
The truth is that the present cosy arrangement benefits a few crony capitalism/ middlemen. So they are up in arms under the garb of poor farmers. Most of the protestors are rich farmers/ middlemen/busybodies etc who will lose out on their privileges. The winners, with the new tax laws, will be the tax payer, small farmers and entrepreneurs, poor farm labourers and the customers.
