Aircraft major Boeing courts scrutiny after 5 January incident where a portion of an Alaska Airlines plane’s fuselage blew off shortly after take-off, forcing an emergency landing.
The plane turned back after about 15 mins in the air. No one was injured. DGCA said the crew shut down the second engine after an 'oil filter bypass light got illuminated in cruise'.
In its order dated 26 August 2021, the DGCA stated that the operation of Boeing 737 Max planes are permitted 'only upon satisfaction of applicable requirements for return to service'.
An official said that Boeing continues to work to safely return the Max to service, adding that over 170 out of 195 global regulators have opened their airspace for the model.
