The Aam Aadmi Party, or AAP, is a political party founded by Arvind Kejriwal in 2012. It was born out of a civil society movement — Indian Against Corruption — that received massive popular support in 2011-12 after public anger over corruption charges on the then Congress-led UPA government.
It won its first elections in Delhi in 2013, and came to power with outside support from the Congress. But the government lasted only 49 days as Kejriwal resigned since he was unable to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Delhi Assembly. AAP returned to power in 2015, winning an overwhelming 67 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. Under Kejriwal’s leadership, the government focused on addressing key urban issues like inflation, water, electricity bills, and public services, with a promise of free water and electricity for residents. AAP’s welfare schemes included initiatives like Mohalla Clinics for healthcare and expanding the Delhi Metro network. These initiatives garnered significant praise and boosted the party’s popularity.
However, AAP’s relationship with the central government, led by the BJP, has been marked by ongoing tensions, especially regarding control over the Delhi Police and other administrative matters. The party has frequently clashed with the Lieutenant Governor (L-G), who is appointed by the central government.
One of the biggest controversies surrounding the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in recent years has been the corruption charges linked to the 2021-22 Delhi excise policy. Several key AAP leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, have been accused of irregularities in the policy, which allegedly favored liquor suppliers. The case led to their arrests by central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Convener Arvind Kejriwal was also jailed in connection with the case. After being granted bail, Kejriwal stepped down as Chief Minister, with Atishi taking over the role.
The new golden goose of the BJP and its trolls as evidenced in the comment below mine>> JIHAD JIHAD JIHAD JIHAD + SHAHEEN BAGH + JIHAD + JNU + SICKULAR + BIEYANI + GOLI MAARO + LOTS AND LOTS OF FEAR = VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well sorry to burst your bubble but Kejriwal’s electoral acumen proved you guys for the jokers you really are. Ab rotey raho. The best part is that the youth of the country is no longer afraid of speaking out. The fear is gone. Come at us, you n*zis. We are well equipped to handle your idiocy.
To be honest I want this to continue as long as it can.
It’s not time to be politically correct.
The jihadi undertones of this protest needs to put out in the open otherwise it will be Kashmiri genocide of 90 all over again this time in Delhi.
A 4 month old dies, a 6 year old spewing venom at a tender age, parents blaming government for deaths of children, protestor shouting ‘la ilah illah’ , khilafat, secular journalist encouraging protesters to change strategy, PhD students exhorting how to break nation, Kashmiri politician saying with 3.5 crore we got Pakistan now we are 35 crore.
These are ominous signs of forthcoming jihad and khilafat where general public doesn’t know but the protestors knowing fully well meaning of slogans and its objective.
For AAP’s Kejriwal its like dream comes true. A fort within the Centre jurisdiction playing on the opposite side. The people after the destruction of economy via Demonetization and GST implementation shows little faith on the centre in resolving the current crises already gone out of their reach. After inducing 1.5 Lakh Crores by RBI coffin, the situation still remains bad. Although the world’s economies were at odds due to US and China trade disputes, our’s was little to catch the disastrous we are in now. Few more calculations seeking a bail out by LIC may backfire as the confidence of the masses is too low to be lifted by miracles. The question still remains what on earth will bring back the old days of 6.0 + GDP on track along with restoration of investors faith in the ailing economy. Difficult to find an answer in the current scenario. The image of the country after a series of events initiated by NAMO’s govt to account the 1.3 Bn people on accounts of Citizen ship further brought negative impacts and huge scenes were witnessed all over the world by agitations of the Indian diaspora. Even the Developed countries were tight lipped to accept the new set of rule for being an Indian Citizen. Religious flavor brought forward to win elections has proved disastrous in recently held elections for the BJP. Moreover the Kejriwal development model for the Delhi was highly motivated to be accepted as 200 units of free electricity , 5 star schools and womens safety were the key highlights. There was no face for the CM post by the BJP further making things difficult as the aspirations of the cadres get more visible with huge fight within themselves post election win. The unconstitutional language to shoot the opponents of the state further terrified the masses as newer witnessed before. These people voted for the already proven performance individuals who could be trusted for another 5 years. the rhetoric’s of the BJP and its cadres in capitalizing the voter by hook or crook didn’t work as hungry stomach and jobless minds are upset for singing the religious tunes which haven’t changed their issues since last 5.5 years. Mr. Kejriwal deserves this win and has huge responsibility ahead to make Delhi a world class destination and needs to attract the youth offering some work/job to survive and live a great life.
