Jalna: Union minister and former Maharashtra BJP chief Raosaheb Danve on Sunday said four opposition MLAs had met him in order to the join the BJP but he had asked them to wait.

State Assembly polls are likely to be held in September-October and several leaders from the Congress and the National Congress Party have made a beeline for the BJP and the Shiv Sena over the past few weeks.

“Today four MLAs from the opposition met me to join the BJP, I have told them to wait,” Danve said while speaking at a felicitation programme here for people from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Addressing the gathering, Danve said he would propose to the Union government that a “caste-based census” be carried along with the regular exercise in 2021.

He said OBCs were demanding such a census for a long time.

Danve claimed the BJP-led governments at the Centre and Maharashtra had worked a lot for the development of OBC communities, including giving Constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) in August last year.– PTI

  1. The problem is that Gandhis are no longer the winning mascots for Congress anymore. And if they aren’t the winning mascots, they can’t be ‘cementing glue’ for the party. It will be good for Gandhis to comfortablely retire abroad. They have plenty of money. In their absence, Congress will be able to choose it’s leadership, in their absence, easily. TMC, NCP, SP etc may again merge with Congress in such a scenario and create a credible alternative to BJP.
That will be in long term interest of the country.
But, for that to happen, Gandhis departure from the scene is mandatory.

  2. Politicians have turned selfish and follow own gilas than that of party. Everyone wants to get away from sinking ship. Congressmen are no exception.

  3. I can lead congress in the interest of my motherland. But conditionally. I will support noble cause steps taken by ruling party. And show red light where there is problem. I should have full power of the age old party. I have wonderful idea for constructive oppose and editing the ruling govr.
