Congress will defeat Modi, see what we do then, Rahul Gandhi says at Sadbhav Yatra in Gurugram

Joining former MP Brijendra Singh’s march, Rahul Gandhi said that no other party could survive the BJP’s misuse of ECI, ED, CBI, and I-T department, but Congress’s ‘Babbar Shers’ were not afraid.

Gurugram: “Congress party Narendra Modi ko haraayegi, phir dekhna hum Narendra Modi ke khilaaf kya karvaai karte hain,” Rahul Gandhi said in Gurugram Friday, warning of Modi’s imminent defeat and his party’s plans for dealing with him.

Joining former MP Brijendra Singh’s ‘Sadbhav Yatra’ Friday, Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, walked a kilometre from Khandsa Chowk to SD School before addressing a public rally.

“There are only two ideologies left in this country now,” Rahul Gandhi told the gathering. “One is the BJP’s—the ideology of hatred and dividing people. The other is the Congress’s—the one that believes in Baba Saheb’s Constitution.”

No other political party could stand before the BJP now, he said, pointing to the ruling party’s scale of “misuse” of the Election Commission, the Enforcement Directorate, the Central Bureau of Investigation, and the Income Tax Department.

His speech moved from a tribute to Brijendra Singh’s yatra to an attack on the US-India trade deal and what Rahul Gandhi described as systematic electoral fraud by the BJP.  Then, he arrived at his clincher.

“Write it down,” he told the crowd. “The Congress party will defeat Narendra Modi. Then watch what we do against him.”

And, only the Congress party could ultimately take on the BJP, he said. “You are my Babbar Shers,” he told supporters. “You are not afraid of anyone.”

Haryana election & unemployment

Rahul Gandhi also did not let Haryana off lightly either.

“The BJP stole the election here,” he said flatly. He added that the ruling party had a system to do so across Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bengal, and Assam.

The ruling party, he said, has not only struck off names from voter lists by the lakhs and added new ones, but also had the Election Commission under its control throughout.

Unemployment, Rahul Gandhi emphasised, remained the biggest issue in the state and the country.

“Young people get degrees but no jobs. Small industries are shutting down.”

‘Epstein file & Modi-Adani link’

In some of his sharpest remarks of the afternoon, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Modi had “handed over all your data to America”, as part of the US-India deal. He said the country had received nothing in return.

He also alleged that India’s agricultural sector had been opened to American farmers. India, he said, would buy goods worth Rs 9.5 lakh crore from the US, and Modi had agreed not to buy oil without American permission.

He attributed Modi’s compliance to two factors: “Epstein file”, which he claimed contained Modi’s complete history, and the criminal case against Adani in the United States.

“This case is not against Adani,” he said. “It is against Narendra Modi. Modi and Adani are one. The company’s name is Adani, but it should be called Modani.”

Yatras now complete, says Brijendra Singh

Brijendra Singh told the gathering that the ‘Sadbhav Yatra’, modelled on Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, had covered 2,700 kilometres since it began on 7 October.

Singh said that the yatra had carried one message through every village: stay away from the hatred the BJP is spreading.

“With Rahul Gandhi’s arrival today,” he said, “this yatra is now complete.”

He, however, clarified that he was speaking from the 85th constituency of 90 assembly segments in Haryana, and that he would cover the other five in the coming days.

Haryana Congress President Rao Narender Singh told the crowd that Rahul Gandhi’s visit had filled Haryana’s youth with new energy. “The poor of this country see you as the future,” he said.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, speaking before Gandhi, recalled the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s passage through Haryana. He said the people of the state, at the time, had also shown their love.

Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala the welcomed Rahul Gandhi, tying a turban on the leader’s head.
