Saying ‘India is now seen as a land of reform, perform and transform’, he highlights how the view of the country has changed in international eyes.

New Delhi: In his last Independence Day address ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke at length about the progress India has made under his government and asserted that its rise is being hailed by the world.

Modi drew a comparison between the situation in 2013 and how things stand today and said if the pace of the UPA government’s last year was maintained, it would have taken decades, centuries and generations to build as many toilets, distribute as many LPG connections among the poor and lay down as much optical fibre as his government has done.

While the country is brimming with self-confidence today, it is forging ahead with a new sense of commitment, he said.

“India is moving forward at a new pace,” he said.

Modi also spoke about the recent Monsoon Session of Parliament and said it was dedicated to social justice, with measures being taken to protect the interests of Dalits, deprived people, tribals, women and the backwards.

“We have to ensure social justice for all and create an India that is progressing rapidly,” he said.

Indians today across the globe are feeling proud as the country has become the sixth largest economy in the world, he said.

While decisions have been held back in the past due political and other compulsions, bold decisions like the GST are being taken now, he said.

“The world was worried earlier about India as it saw the country among the fragile five, now it looks at us with hope,” he said.

“The world earlier viewed India as a country hit by policy paralysis, delayed reforms, now it sees it as a multi-trillion dollar investment destination,” he said, adding that his government also took the bold measure of announcing the minimum support price for grains at 1.5 times the cost to farmers.

He also expressed his sadness at the plight of people in parts of the country affected by floods. – PTI

NaMo ‘s independence day speech does not kindle any optimism because his mindset and pschye remains stuck up in complacency and
self-emulatory allusions not bothering about the stark ground realities and grave challenges the nation is face to face with ! More than four years ago he did trap the electorate with utopian, fallacious and tempting promises ! It is “status quo” scenario at present !
His body language during the address to the nation ironically did not reflect any innovation and intention to learn from the past bitter
experiences and blunders to effect improvements in the future to make India a “developed nation”!

It amazingly appeared as if it was not a Prime Minister addressing the nation with pleasant dreams and visions for the times to come but an election campaigner eyeing ensuing Lok Sabha Polls due in May,2019 ! He is living in fool’s paradise to dream of remaining in the hot seat for a number of terms without delivering the goods but thriving on sheer ploys, rhetorics, eloquence and false promises ! It once clicked but time is a Great Leveller too !

The PM during his address boasted that India is the sixth largest economy of the world but he should have understood the difference and yawning gap between numbers first and sixth !

He talked of world viewing India as a nation hit by policy paralysis patting his rule for taking bold decisions ! But he again relied on
lies and falsehood on this solemn occasion not speaking the truth. What to talk of Policy Paralysis in the past in India, there is no policy at all now because NaMo himself is the policy in India(two in one) none else ?

He asserted that country was brimming with self-confidence forging ahead with a sense of new commitment ! Do the ever mounting incidents of lynching in various parts of the nation with impunity, a sense of fear and venom of hatred being spread every now and then, bear testimony to the fact that Self-Confidence is in real sense brimming in India !

Why did not NaMo substantiate his achievements with sound statistics pertaining to unearthing black money and bringing it back from Swiss and other foreign banks ?

He was silent and at his wits end to come up with his policies and plans to encounter burning problem of unemployment in India !

He did not say anything worthwhile regarding “his” future plans and policies how to eradicate the curse of poverty from India ?

He made himself a butt of ridicule by saying that for almost more than sixty six years country was at a standstill whereas his more than four years rule did work wonders magically ! He should have remembered that self-praise was no recommendation! Let the masses echo so, only then it can be deemed a reality otherwise it is nothing more than fiction !
