The best Indian cartoons of the day, chosen by editors at ThePrint.

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

This April Fool’s day, different kinds of ‘frauds’ seem to be the underlying theme of illustrations. In the lead cartoon, Satish Acharya in Sify pokes fun at PM Narendra Modi’s promises of “Achhe Din,’ which have fooled the country because even April Fool’s has leaked and spread to the rest of the year.

Irfan on Twitter talks about fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya’s upcoming third marriage. A manager at a bank says that their invite is guaranteed, because Mallya has taken thousands of crores in loans before fleeing the country.

Hemant Morparia also takes the theme forward on Twitter, highlighting the burden the taxpayer has to bear, while the rich and powerful get bailed out of losses, given clean chits for scams, or escape the country.

Steve Smith and Dave Warner’s fall from cricketing fame continues to provide material for humour. In Alok Nirantar’s cartoon for the Sakal Media Group, an MLA from Maharashtra tells them that they should have been in the Maharashtra cabinet, because then they would have already gotten a clean chit for corruption. In the past, CM Fadnavis has defended his cabinet ministers who were embroiled in bribery cases.

Lastly, cartoonist Abhishek makes fun of the CBSE paper leaks, implying the stunt was so cheap that even a genie who is obliged to grant your wishes would refuse to do it.

Speech bubble: Of course they’ll invite us.

“Forgive me master, but I don’t do such cheap jobs like getting you the leaked exam paper.”
