Full text of SC judgement granting bail to Arnab Goswami in abetment to suicide case

New Delhi: On 11 November, Supreme Court had granted bail to Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in a 2018 case of abetment to suicide.

The detailed judgment recording the reasons for the order was released Friday.

In its judgment, a Supreme Court bench comprising Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice Indira Banerjee observed, “Prima facie, on the application of the test which has been laid down by this court in a consistent line of authority…  it cannot be said that the appellant was guilty of having abetted the suicide within the meaning of Section 306 of the IPC.”
