Kozhikode (Keralam), Sep 27 (PTI) Yuva Morcha activists on Sunday waved black flags at the convoys of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Keralam Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala in separate incidents here, following a similar protest by Youth Congress activists during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Kollam district the previous day, police said.
In the afternoon, when Priyanka Gandhi’s convoy was passing through Thambalamanna near Thiruvambady, a group of Yuva Morcha activists waved black flags and shouted slogans against her, police said.
Police soon removed the protesters, following which Priyanka Gandhi’s convoy proceeded without stopping.
The protesters were arrested after a case was registered, officials said.
In a similar incident, Yuva Morcha activists blocked Chennithala’s convoy near Kuttiyadi.
Police said the protesters assembled near a narrow bridge, waved black flags and shouted slogans against Chennithala.
The convoy was halted for a few minutes until the protesters were arrested and removed, officials said.
Yuva Morcha launched the protests against Congress leaders following a black-flag protest by Youth Congress activists when Shah’s convoy was travelling from Kollam to Kundara on Saturday.
Shah was in Kollam district to attend multiple events.
Following the incident, BJP workers held protests in Kollam and burnt effigies of Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan and Chennithala.
