Mumbai, Sep 15 (PTI) A 43-year-old woman worker of the Shiv Sena and her husband were allegedly assaulted following an argument at a party office in Mumbai’s Vakola area, police said on Tuesday.
Cross-complaints have been registered in connection with the incident that took place late on Monday night, an official said.
According to the complaint filed by Ashwini Bhosle, she was visiting the Shiv Sena ‘shakha’ (branch) in Vakola for the ongoing Ganesh festival when the accused, also Sena workers, blocked her husband Sandip Bhosle from entering on the ground that he did not hold any party position.
When she intervened, shakha chief Sanjay Telhore abused her, while two others identified as Shinde and Gawli inappropriately touched her and physically assaulted her and her husband, she alleged.
Her husband also allegedly lost his gold jewellery during the incident.
Vakola Police registered an FIR against Telhore and other two under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections including 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt).
Another FIR was registered on Telhore’s complaint against Ashwini Bhosle and her husband for allegedly assaulting him during the altercation, the police official added. PTI ZA KRK
