Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand), Jun 8 (PTI) The body of a 35-year-old woman was recovered from a rivulet near Pithoragarh airstrip on Monday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Vaishali Kharayat, a resident of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.
Prima facie, the woman appears to have died by suicide, after learning about the death of her husband due to cardiac arrest in Madhya Pradesh , Jajardewal police station-in-charge Manoj Pandey said.
According to family members Kharayat had recently travelled from Rewa to visit her parents, who reside in the Kumaor ward area of Pithoragarh town.
The police said she left her parent’s house shortly after receiving the news of her husband’s death. Neighbours reportedly saw her leaving the house at around 10 am.
After she did not return, family members began searching for her. Her body was later spotted by local women in a water body near the Pithoragarh airstrip, police said.
