Lucknow, Jul 31 (PTI) The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) has seized suspected narcotic substances with an estimated street value of around Rs 40 lakh from a seed store in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district and arrested one person, an official said on Friday.
Deputy Narcotics Commissioner, CBN Lucknow Zone, Praveen Bali said the seizure was made during an anti-drug operation carried out by CBN officers at a Kisan Beej Bhandar in Bhilwal, Haidergarh, on the Lucknow-Sultanpur Road.
“During the raid, officers recovered 342 grams of brown powder suspected to be morphine, 53 grams of MD and 300 grams of a suspected white powder packed in multiple plastic pouches and kept inside a clothing bag in the shop,” Bali said.
Following completion of legal formalities, the narcotic substances were seized and one person was arrested under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, Bali said.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify any other persons involved in the racket, he added.
