Lucknow, Oct 9 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Friday approved a Rs 265-crore integrated city bus terminal with commercial facilities in Lucknow’s Vrindavan Yojana, with the project envisaging commercial infrastructure worth Rs 205 crore and a dedicated terminal to accommodate the city’s expanding electric bus fleet.

The terminal will be developed on 7.06 acres under the public-private partnership (PPP) model to provide passengers with modern amenities and cater to the growing demand for electric bus services.

Urban Development Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said 116 electric buses are currently operating from the Dubagga depot, while the process to induct another 300 buses is underway, necessitating the development of a dedicated terminal.

Of the total estimated project cost, Rs 60 crore will be spent on the bus terminal and Rs 205 crore on commercial facilities. The cost of land is not included in the estimate.

The terminal will have bus bays, parking facilities, electric bus charging stations, repair facilities, ticket counters, waiting lounges and luggage storage.

The commercial component will include restaurants, shops, banks, ATMs, public toilets and a taxi stand.

The project will be implemented by the Directorate of Urban Transport under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model.

Under the arrangement, the developer will transfer the bus terminal to the directorate free of cost after construction but will remain responsible for its operation and management.

The terminal will have to be maintained for 35 years, while the commercial infrastructure will be maintained for 90 years. PTI CDN NB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
