Lucknow, Sep 15 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved an increase in the daily duty allowance of volunteers of the Provincial Rakshak Dal (PRD) from Rs 500 to Rs 600, benefiting 27,794 personnel.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said the government had been consistently increasing the allowance paid to PRD volunteers deployed on duty.
The allowance was raised from Rs 250 to Rs 375 on March 8, 2019, and subsequently increased to Rs 395 on January 6, 2022. On April 16, 2025, it was further raised from Rs 395 to Rs 500.
“The Cabinet has now agreed to increase the daily allowance to Rs 600,” Khanna said.
The Cabinet also approved a cashless medical treatment scheme for PRD volunteers and their family members under the Chief Minister PRD Cashless Medical Scheme.
Under the scheme, cashless treatment will be available to volunteers who have performed at least three months of duty during a financial year, the minister said.
PRD jawans (Provincial Rakshak Dal volunteers) assist the state administration and police in maintaining law and order, security, traffic management and other duties during emergencies and public events. PTI ABN APL APL
