Lucknow, Sep 15 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved 23 proposals, including a Rs 1,008.67-crore Chitrakoot Link Expressway project, development of over 14,000 primary schools as smart schools and measures to promote toy manufacturing in the state.
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence, also approved 20 per cent reservation for former Agniveers in direct recruitment to the posts of jail warder and enforcement constable (transport), Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said.
The Cabinet approved Rs 1,008.67 crore for the development of the Chitrakoot Link Expressway, a 15.172-km, access-controlled, six-lane greenfield expressway to be constructed on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis, Khanna said.
The entire cost of the project will be borne by the state government and a global tender will be invited for selecting the construction agency, he said.
The project is expected to improve connectivity between the Bundelkhand region and Chitrakoot Dham and boost tourism.
Under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, small and marginal farmers will be eligible for long-term loans of up to Rs 6 lakh at an annual interest rate of six per cent through the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Gram Vikas Bank Ltd.
The Cabinet also approved 20 per cent reservation for former Agniveers in direct recruitment to the post of jail warder and 20 per cent horizontal reservation in recruitment to the post of enforcement constable (transport), along with relaxation in the upper age limit.
The decisions are aimed at providing employment opportunities to youths who have completed their military service, Khanna said.
The Cabinet gave its nod to a proposal to develop 14,429 primary schools under the Basic Education Council as smart schools.
It also approved the Uttar Pradesh Toy Manufacturing Promotion Policy-2025 to encourage toy manufacturing, attract investment and create employment opportunities in the state.
Among other industrial development measures, the Cabinet approved an increase in the financial powers of officials under financial rules to ensure faster execution of works in engineering departments.
It also approved setting up a 120 KLPD ethanol production plant at Chhata Sugar Company Ltd in Mathura through a concession-cum-lease arrangement.
An MoU between the state government, Fisheries Department and WorldFish for implementation of the WorldFish project in the Purvanchal region was also approved.
The Cabinet approved free allotment of around 65 acres of barren land in Pure Lal Khan village of Milkipur tehsil in Ayodhya to the Union government for setting up a Regional Centre of the National Security Guard (NSG).
It also approved exemption from applicable stamp duty and registration fees on tenancy and lease deeds for periods of up to 10 years.
The Cabinet approved amendments to the policy governing the establishment of Automated Testing Stations (ATS) for vehicle inspection to ensure the technical fitness of vehicles in the state.
It also approved an additional margin money of Rs 25 per quintal for fair-price shop dealers on the quantity of foodgrains distributed by them.
The Cabinet approved funding-related proposals for development of Lucknow, Unnao and Rae Bareli under the Chief Minister’s Urban Expansion/New City Promotion Scheme.
