Gurugram: Angered by his daughter marrying against his wishes, a man allegedly pumped six bullets into her and also shot at her husband at Unn village in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri late Tuesday evening, according to the police.
The accused, Kuldeep Singh, who is in his 50s, is absconding with his nephew and other alleged accomplices.
Kuldeep’s daughter, Sakshi (23), who has bullet injuries on her leg, arms, abdomen and neck, and her husband, Mohit (25), shot on his right arm, have been admitted to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak. Sakshi’s condition is stated to be critical while her husband is out of danger.
Dilbagh Singh, a sub-inspector at Bond Kalan police station of Charkhi Dadri told ThePrint Wednesday that Sakshi, a resident of Pilana village, had married Mohit, a resident of neighbouring Unn village, six months ago though her father had objected to the match.
Both Sakshi and Mohit are from Jat community but from different gotras. However, the woman’s family was not happy with the marriage.
After her marriage, Sakshi went to live with Mohit in Unn.
“As per the initial information, on Tuesday evening, Kuldeep Singh along with his nephew (name not yet known) and some others went to Mohit’s residence and tried to take Sakshi along with them against her wishes. When Mohit resisted, Kuldeep shot at him. The bullet hit his arms, but he managed to escape and alerted the police. The accused forcibly took away Sakshi with him. The police launched a hunt for the accused in the area and found Sakshi lying with bullet injuries at Ranila village, some 7 kilometres from Unn village,” said sub-inspector Dilbagh Singh.
Bond Kalan police station house officer (SHO) Ram Singh told The Print that the police have registered an FIR against Kuldeep on the basis of a statement given by Mohit.
According to the SHO, Mohit has alleged that Kuldeep Singh was unhappy with their marriage and hence tried to kill him as well as Sakshi.
A team has visited the scene of the crime and initiated an investigation, the SHO further said, adding that an investigating officer has been sent to PGIMS, Rohtak, to record Sakshi’s statement.
