Kolkata, Oct 22 (PTI) Two nurses were injured after a patient allegedly attacked them inside the critical care unit of Darjeeling District Hospital, sources said on Thursday.
The incident took place around 2 am on Wednesday when the 21-year-old patient, identified as Sajal Rai, a resident of Batasia, allegedly turned violent and attacked the two nurses on duty, Prabha Chettri and Lakshmi Rai.
The injured nurses are undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
Sajal Rai had been admitted to the CCU late on Tuesday night in a critical condition, the sources said.
He allegedly became aggressive in the early hours of Wednesday and attacked the nurses before other healthcare workers rushed to the spot and restrained him.
Local MLA Noman Rai visited the hospital to enquire about the condition of the injured nurses.
Hospital authorities were unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts to contact senior officials, including the Chief Medical Officer of Health. PTI SUS MNB
