Shimla, Nov 5 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu laid the foundation stones of 26 developmental projects worth Rs 175 crore for the Bharmour Assembly constituency in Chamba district on Thursday.

He formed a committee to discuss with the Centre the demand for granting Scheduled Tribe status to 27 gram panchayats in the constituency, according to an official statement.

Addressing a public gathering at Lylh Kothi, Sukhu said the state government would soon launch the ‘Mukhya Mantri Ka Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana’, covering more than three lakh families with an annual income of less than Rs 75,000.

Under the scheme, women aged 21 to 59 from eligible families would receive Rs 1,500 per month in financial assistance, along with 300 units of free electricity and health insurance coverage of Rs 10 lakh, officials said.

The chief minister announced the release of Rs 18 crore for the construction of the Holi-Utrala road and the opening of CBSE-affiliated schools at Lylh, Mehla, Bharmour, Sunara and Holi from the next academic session.

He said the government would consider upgrading schools at Churi, Chadi, Ananaihar, Grundhi and Kunaid. He said the government will explore the possibility of constructing a helipad at a suitable location in the constituency. Among the major projects inaugurated was a new Model Degree College at Lylh Kothi, constructed for Rs 14.46 crore.

Officials said the chief minister also inaugurated the upgraded Bharmour-Badgram via Gaagal to Luni road and the Sirdi to Supa road, completed at a cost of Rs 10.64 crore and Rs 9.65 crore, respectively.

Sukhu laid the foundation stones of several road projects, including the Nayagram-Bajol road (Rs 11.26 crore), Lamu-Quarsi road (Rs 16.98 crore) and Kandi-Kuther road (Rs 11.98 crore).

He laid the foundation stone of a 30-bedded hospital building at the Community Health Centre in Choori, which will cost Rs 5.64 crore.

The chief minister alleged that the previous BJP government had neglected development and failed to address people’s needs, particularly in health, education and road connectivity in the Bharmour constituency.

Sukhu said Congress governments had made significant contributions to the region’s development. PTI BPL SMV ASD
