Mumbai, Jul 31 (PTI) Jogeshwari Police in the city have reunited an eight-year-old child with special needs with his family within a few hours after he went missing by tracing his identity through the name printed on his T- shirt.
Police naik Misal, while on foot patrol, found the child crying and wandering alone on Subhash Road in Jogeshwari (East) on Thursday, officials said.
When questioned, the boy, who had difficulty communicating, could not tell his name or address. He could only utter the words “Abba” and “Amma”.
Naik noticed that his T-shirt had the name of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Hindi School in Jogeshwari (East). School authorities informed the police that the boy was no longer studying there, but their records showed that he was currently enrolled at Sopan Special English Medium School.
Police then contacted the school, where teacher Neha Tendulkar identified the child and provided his address. He was handed over to the parents after verifying the identity.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Iqbal Shikalgar, officials said. PTI ZA KRK
