Shah Rukh Khan’s contributions to Covid relief work

This is not the first time Khan has contributed towards Covid relief work. During the initial stages of the pandemic, he had announced a series of initiatives to help the central and various state governments in their efforts against the virus.

This included making a donation to the PM-CARES fund and the Maharashtra CM’s Relief Fund.

He had also announced that his company Kolkata Knight Riders along with Meer Foundation will work with the state governments of Maharashtra and West Bengal to provide 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits for health workers.

Meer Foundation has also separately aiding in Covid relief work. It tied up with the initiative ‘Ek Saath – The Earth’ to provide food to more than 5,500 families for at least a month in Mumbai. It also had an association with Roti Foundation, under which it provided 3 lakh meal kits to 10,000 daily wage labourers in Mumbai.

The NGO also tied up with the Working People’s Charter to provide basic essentials to more than 2,500 daily wage labourers in Delhi. And had also said it would provide support to 100 acid attack victims in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

Set up in 2013, the Meer Foundation is a grassroots organisation focused on empowering women and promoting gender equality.
