Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra said the primary objective of the rationalisation exercise is to increase accessibility and convenience for the voters.

The CEO further said that earlier, there were 25,332 polling stations in the state.

During the rationalisation exercise conducted in SSR-2026, 39 new polling stations have been created based on elector population and geographical accessibility.

After rationalisation, the total number of polling stations in the state is now 25,371.
