New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the COVID-19 crisis, stressing that ramping up vaccination was the key to battling the pandemic.

In a letter to the prime minister, the veteran Congress leader said one must not look at absolute numbers but the total percentage of population vaccinated.

“The key to our fight against COVID-19 must be ramping up the vaccination effort. We must resist the temptation to look at the absolute numbers being vaccinated, and focus instead on the percentage of the population vaccinated,” he said in his letter.

Noting that India currently has vaccinated only a small fraction of its population, Singh said he is certain that with the right policy design, “we can do much better and very quickly”.

The suggestions come a day after the Congress Working Committee met and discussed the efforts required to fight the COVID pandemic.

  1. Is it possible for the above letter to also address all UPA constituents for depositing with government 75% of the amount each one is allegedly pocketed. Starting with the top leadership, all alleged amounts under FIRs, Charge sheets or under investigations.
A solid suggestion like this coming from a renowned economists will be lot more credible instead of
The 5 suggestions given which seem to be coming from a Logistician which he is not.
No point in teaching someone how to manage events who is always blamed for event management.

  2. westbengal seems to be more important for the duo and there is nobody bold enough in the cabinet to take any decision.

  3. What is new in Manmohan Singh’s statement? Everybody knows that the cure is in vaccination. He has repeated everything which everybody knows.
