New Delhi, Oct 9 (PTI) In view of the impending protests in the national capital, the Delhi High Court on Friday passed an administrative order that proceedings at the Patiala House and Rouse Avenue district courts will take place virtually on Saturday.

The notification, passed under the signature of the registrar general, said the judicial officers posted at Patiala House Court Complex and Rouse Avenue Court Complex who are unable to reach their respective courts may hold the court through virtual proceedings.

It further said that in all the district courts across Delhi, no adverse orders shall be passed in any case for want of appearance of litigants, advocates, witnesses or accused persons and in case of urgency in any matter, it should be adjourned to a short date.

“The proceedings and hearing of all cases, including civil and criminal at New Delhi District Courts, that is, at Patiala House Court Complex and at Rouse Avenue Court Complex shall be done virtually only,” the notification said.

It further said that in district courts, undertrial prisoners should be produced through virtual mode only.

The notification comes ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) call for a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. PTI SKV SKV KSS

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
