Bengaluru, Jun 8 (PTI) Karnataka Minister Eshwar Khandre on Monday said steps would be taken to conduct elections to all panchayats in the state by the end of this year.
Speaking to reporters after holding an introductory meeting with senior officials of the department in Bengaluru, he said the process of constituency delimitation and reservation would be completed within the next eight weeks. Thereafter, the Karnataka State Election Commission would undertake the election process.
He also assured that steps would be taken to fill 4,000 of the 8,770 vacant posts in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.
According to Khandre, the department has 25,540 sanctioned posts, of which 8,770 are vacant. Of these, 268 are Group A posts, 1,079 are Group B posts, 5,294 are Group C posts, and 2,129 are Group D posts.
The state rural development and panchayat raj minister said officials had been directed to initiate the process of filling 4,000 vacancies across all categories.
Khandre said the recruitment process would be carried out transparently through the Karnataka Public Service Commission and the Karnataka Examinations Authority.
The minister also said instructions had been issued to fill all vacant posts in the RDPR Department in the Kalyana Karnataka region.
He noted that at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on June 3, approval was granted for the recruitment of 56,000 government personnel.
Of these, the RDPR Department received permission to fill 1,400 posts, and the recruitment process for these vacancies would begin shortly, he added. PTI AMP SSK
