Kolkata, Sep 27 (PTI) BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Sinha on Sunday described the organisational meetings chaired by party president Nitin Nabin in West Bengal as “homework” for the state government’s future agenda, saying the exercise showed how seriously the leadership takes the state’s development.
Nabin held a series of organisational meetings in the state, including interactions with the party’s office-bearers, MPs, MLAs and ministers.
“The national president took stock of the work done in West Bengal in the first 150 days of the new government, and where there are shortcomings. This is homework for the future work of the BJP government,” Sinha said.
He said the central leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was keeping an eye on the work being done in the state as well as its future plans.
“I feel this is a glorious era for Bengal,” Sinha said, adding that the BJP’s concept of a “double-engine government” meant coordination between the state and central governments.
He claimed that protests by opposition parties over the Annapurna Yojana had largely subsided after most beneficiaries received Rs 3,000 each.
He said the remaining beneficiaries would receive the assistance within a month.
Sinha also accused the previous Trinamool Congress government of failing to undertake development work and alleged that it was now trying to obstruct the state’s progress.
He claimed that the Mamata Banerjee-led party was seeking an alliance with the CPI(M) and Congress, but said such an arrangement would not pose a challenge to the BJP.
