Mumbai, Sep 15 (PTI) Nine mild tremors were recorded in Maharashtra between September 1 and 8, with seven of them reported in Nashik district, according to the state Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department.
The tremors recorded in Nashik’s Surgana and Dindori areas ranged between magnitudes 1.9 and 3.7, the department said.
No report of property damage or loss of life has been received. Jalgaon district recorded one tremor of magnitude 3.3 in Raver taluka on September 1, while a 3.6-magnitude tremor was recorded in Sironcha taluka of Gadchiroli district on September 3.
Another tremor measuring 2.3 was recorded in Nashik on September 8.
The tremors were recorded at depths of 4 to 10 km, according to the department’s report.
The Nashik district administration has been advised to undertake preparedness and capacity-building measures under the Incident Response System (IRS) to deal with earthquakes.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are also conducting training programmes for citizens and schools under the School Safety Programme.
