New Delhi: A video has gone viral showing a Pakistani man decrying his country’s leaders, saying they would have been in a much better place if Narendra Modi was their ruler.

“Issein achcha to Modi hai. Uske log usey kaisey maantey hai… humein Modi mil jaye. Humein na Nawaz Sharif chahiye, na Benazir chahiye, na humein Imran Khan chahiye… General Musharraf bhi nahin chahiye. Humein sirf Prime Minister Modi chahiye… joh is mulk-ke tero ko siddha karein,” the man rants to the host, on the show titled, “Pakistan has defaulted: Pakistan Zindabad to Pakistan Se Zinda Bhag.”

He goes on to say, that if the country makes friends with India, its chicken, tomatoes, onion, potatoes – “each and everything” – would get cheaper.

“Abhi bhi iss jhooti ana (prestige) ko khatam karein, India ke saath dosti karlein, who bada bhai hain, maanlo, bahut bada hai aapse…,” he continues.

Amjad says after Pakistan has become a defaulter of loans, its citizens are chanting, “Bhaag zinda Pakistan-se, chahein india hi kyo na jaana parey (Let’s get out alive from Pakistan, even if that means we have to go to India.”

Amjad asks a cross-section of people on the problems they are facing as citizens of a “default nation”.

The harshest critic of the present government’s “bungling” turned out to be a very angry man in a yellow T-shirt. “We were better off living in India,” he told Amjad, adding, “In 1947 we got freedom… but if it was one country, we would have got tomatoes at Rs 20 a kg today, chicken for Rs 150 per kg, petrol would have been Rs 150 a litre… India is the world’s 5th largest economy. Modi can take Pakistan up.”

He said Pakistan’s present leadership was making false promises and leading the people up the wrong path.

Amjad asks the man whether he would also agree to Narendra Modi’s rule if he was to live in peace with India. “Of course! Modi Saab is a great man. He is not a bad man at all. Indian Muslims are getting petrol and chicken for Rs 150. We could have also been India’s Muslims. Humein kya pharak padta hai,” the man replies.

The man said Pakistani children don’t get food, people don’t get water, electricity, and gas. “We buy cylinders in black. Sometimes, I feel why have we been born here?” he asks.
